👋 My name is Pedro, and I’m a soon-to-be medical school graduate with a passion for healthcare and a good dose of wit. After years of rotations in hospitals across the U.S. and Latin America, I’ve seen firsthand how healthcare has drifted away from its human core. Between burnout, endless bureaucracy, and political red tape, the system often feels more like a machine than a space for healing. But in the midst of the chaos, I noticed one thing that always sparked connection: humor. 😄

Thinking back to our 30+ hour shifts in hospitals, in the ER at 3:00 am, sleep-deprived and ready to quit, the only thing that kept us going sometimes was the ability to share a joke and laugh with a coworker—and why not, even a patient. Healthcare is serious business, and not for a second does this humor get in the way of being a great professional. But I believe that these are not opposites but complementary. Humor and laughter go beyond how dry, technical, and distant practicing medicine can feel, and bring us just a bit closer to the person in front of us. After all, laughter is universal, timeless, and—most importantly—human. ❤️

That’s why I started HealthyHumor, my small but mighty effort to bring some humanity back into healthcare.
